How much voice should students have?

I saw that another MSU student was recently elected to the city's Board of Aldermen. Do you think that student voices should be represented on the board, or do you think that students shouldn't have a very strong presence, as they are basically transient residents who are around for only two to four years?

I feel the students should have a voice..the fact that they are only around for 2 to 4 years should be a factor because that may be the total amount for an individual student but the university makes up most of the population in starkville. It is important to keep the source of income (students) happy so i think the students should have a voice.
