Extra research material
I really enjoyed the extra research material that was presented today in class. I particularly was interested in the research from Arizona State. Paul Goren's research states that party affiliation comes before one develops political views. I feel this information is also reflected by some individuals who join religious groups or campus organizations. They join and want to be affiliated with a group either because they have friends involved or need a credible source of participation on their resume. They do not understand the values, attitudes or norms until they already claim a sense of identity with that party. The research and class discussion made me question my initial intentions of being a part of certain groups and clubs and how my attitudes and values have developed, based upon those around me who have similar interests and experiences.
