Civil Rights Curriculum in Mississippi Schools

I read in Starkville Daily News this week that Gov. HaleyBarbour signed a bill that authorizes the state's public school districts to make civil rights and human rights a part of the curriculum in all grades. The bill will become a law July 1, 2006. I think that Gov. Barbour is doing a wonderful thing by including civil and human rights into the curriculum for schools in all grades because the civil rights movement played a huge part in American history for all races.

Comments:
i concur. i went to a 5-A public school in columbus and did not have the opportunity to take classes that taught about those specific rights. educating the youth on these important elements of our history will hopefully encourage students to have a greater appreciation for these liberties.
