Interior Secretary Gale Norton is reportedly stepping down from her job. She is the first woman to hold her position. I am always supportive of more women in government, but she has gotten a lot of critism from environmental groups for opening up government land for drilling. To me factor is more important. She also tried to open a wildlife refuge in Alaska for drilling, but hasn't been able to do so yet. The article doesn't seem to give a solid reason that she's stepping down, but it does list all the controversial issues she's been involved with. Here's the link if you're interested.
