Jackson Mayor Frank Melton
I don't know how many of you are from the Jackson area, but if you haven't heard about this politician's activities, you should definitely read up on it.
For a while, he's been accused of illegally carrying weapons on airplanes and in city parks, stopping and searching people illegally, etc., but he never really got in any trouble for any of these alleged activities.
His latest actions, however, look like they might bring him some trouble: he's accused of knocking down a wall of a house in Jackson in the middle of the night with some other men because, he says, it was a drug house. Whether it was a drug house or not, if he did it, it was without going through any courts or anything.

Edit: Friday, Melton was indicted. Read about it here.

I agree with Katherine. Frank Melton has allowed his zeal for law and order to overcome his judgement both as mayor and citizen. If he wanted to enforce the law he should have become a police officer. Anyone familiar with the capitol knows they're needed. Maybe, as mayor, a better solution would have been to fight for funds to improve law enforcement. Then too, maybe his stunts were an attempt to attract attention to the necessity for better law enforcement.
