New Face for Republicans

Another presidential hopeful has entered the race...but who is he? Sen. Sam Brownback (R) Kansas, so far he is running on the terms of being a "full scale republican" like Reagan. Well, if you are a true republican and do not care much for McCain or Guiliani, here is someone else to look at . This is part of the story and the link:

TOPEKA, Kan. - Sen. Sam Brownback (news, bio, voting record), R-Kan., began a long-shot bid for president on Saturday, hoping his reputation as a favorite son of the religious right can help him outdistance better known rivals. Brownback laced his speech with the themes that have made him the leader of the GOP's conservative wing and a strong spokesman in Congress for socially conservative Christians.
A fierce foe of abortion, he planned to return to Washington to participate in an anti-abortion rally Monday marking the 34th anniversary of the Supreme Court's decision that established a nationwide right to the procedure. Brownback also opposes embryonic stem-cell research and gay marriage.
In his announcement, Brownback said the country needs to support the traditional definition of marriage as a union of one man and one woman and said most Americans "feel deeply in their hearts" for "a culture of life." He called for judges "who want to be judges, not legislators."
"Life is beautiful. We all know this," he said. "Let's start following our hearts and work to protect all innocent life."
He pledged never to sign a tax increase if elected president and proposed scrapping the current income tax law.
Brownback faces a crowded field of potential GOP hopefuls that includes Arizona Sen. John McCain (news, bio, voting record), former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani — all with the fundraising skills and experienced campaign staff for the long haul.

Comments:
Yes, I had the opportunity to observe Senator Brownback's announcement to run for Presidential office, and have acknowledged some of the issues that he supports. But, the most obvious thing that I observed about Senator Brownback is that he lacks a Presidential image. Now, I'm not exactly sure what constitutes a Presidential image, but I do know that not having one will cost you an election. For instance, the 2000 Presidential election favored former Vice President Gore in most if not all categories; except one. Former Vice President Gore also lacked a Presidential image. One the other hand, the current President Bush had and has a Presidential image. From my perspective, image means a lot. I'm looking forward to learning more about image. Also, from my perspective, in the 2008 Presidential election, I perceive that Senator John McCain is far ahead of all of the other candidates regarding Presidential image.
