Obama for stricter Gun Control
43% of Americans expect to see Obama push for more gun control. Attorney General Eric Holder announced last month that President Obama wants to restore the ban on the sales of so-called "assault weapons" that expired in 2004. 47% of Americans see no need for stricter gun control. The NRA is going to love this one. I have already seen an increase in the cost of my ammunition lately I fear that it will only get worse. I don't understand how making my hunting cost go up is going to keep crime rates down you will never get rid of all of the guns so don't try to take mine.

I agree with you. I am against and somewhat fearful of Obama's gun control policies. In my opinion, it is just another way for him to control this country even more in ways that he sees fit.
this link here will show you how he has voted and what type policies he is for and has been for just watch the video.
You know, if you want to be taken seriously in a discussion about something so serious as gun control, you need to use a credible source. A YouTube video, narrated by a computer-generated voice (probably because nobody would want to attach their own voice to something like this) reading the text from the president of the NRA, does not garner much credibility. I let the "experts agree.." poster go with not much more than an eyeroll, but maybe that was a mistake. I can see where you are coming from now.
First of all, 47% of Americans seeing no need for stricter gun control also means that 53% do, and that number may be understated anyway. According to OnTheIssues.org gun control information, the number is 57% favoring major restrictions or a ban, and 91% favoring at least some restrictions. Probably close to 100% of NRA members, such as the author of the video linked, favor 0 gun restrictions. This is simply selfish and irresponsible.
Second, how do you hunt with semi-automatic assault weapons? These firearms were not designed with deer in mind. The answer is you don't, and the only responsible thing that a society that is as violent and gun-obsessed as ours can do is ban such weapons for civilian use.
Third, the idea of Obama going to take your guns away, or as Katie said use gun laws to control the population, is absurd. He has said no such thing. The propaganda film linked here makes a lot of wild, baseless claims like that-- and that is all they are, baseless.
To read actual information about President Obama's record and views on gun control, you can go to the OnTheIssues.org Obama on gun control page to see information, quotes, and most importantly, SOURCES.

I appologize dan you are right I should have been more credible and you make some good points i have attached a link that should fact check most of how obama has voted on gun control some things i agree with. The way his last assault rifle bill was written though it would look as though obama considers a shotgun an assault rifle and that is what has me puzzled. http://www.gunbanobama.com/Default.aspx?NavGuid=530ecfa4-ae4e-4819-97e6-892463d99f08
No reason to apologize. Your new link is quite reasonable, and it would be interesting to debate many of the points it brings up. Some are somewhat misleading however, such as the declaration
For example, why is it a bad thing that Obama would want guns to be properly registered to licensed owners? Or why wouldn't you want a waiting period before purchasing guns, or proper background checks? It seems like to me that Obama is very reasonable on gun control, far more than I would be, and I grew up around guns and in a hunting family.

We do need stricter gun control laws because if you haven't notice too many lives are being taken by a bullet. Letting you know that it's too easy for people to get guns. There will always be a way to get around it, I mean there's just about a way to get around anything. But the society we are living in today it's crazy and it's getting crazier. When it comes to hunting rifles that's different because too many people don't go out and shoot one another with hunting rifles. They want soemthing that's small and can be hidden. You never know, people are so slick these days. You just might walk past soemone that has a illegal gun somewhere on them without even knowing and if not on them located in their car. Now just think if someone got into a confrontation with that person, they may get hurt or end up dead just because it being that easy to have a gun.
I personally am not a big gun person. But, if someone were to purchase a gun I would feel more comfortable if there was a waiting period and background check. This world has enough loonies without giving them some new toy.
