New York Governor

New York governor David Paterson is running an expensive set of campaign ads - a year before the election. He does not even have a confirmed opponent yet. Then- Lieutenant Governor Paterson became governor after Eliot Spitzer left office in 2008. He is running these early ads to get his name and his personal story of life's ups and downs out in the state, and he is beginning to gain supporters. Many think the campaign is wasting money this early in the game, but a spokesperson for Paterson said the ads are tremendously helping Paterson, who currently holds a 30% approval rating.
What do you think? Is it too soon to run the ads?

I don't think it's too early; depending on how much money he has for the campaign it sounds like a good strategy.
I also don't believe it's too early to run ads. He's beginning to get into the thoughts of voters, and if he has the ability to start campaigning now, go for it.
